The Chase Family - Amy, Bailey, Gauge, 4, Maggie, 4 and Waverly, 6
As weeks become months, Amy and Bailey Chase reflect on life under quarantine:
Bailey - “The stress level going up is inevitable. It’s just more that gets piled onto your psyche every day without an end date in sight. Our generation has never lived through anything like this. Even in our hyper-connected world, this feels unprecedented.”
Amy - “We have a family that we are very close with who also have 3 kids, and we are missing them sooo much. But he is a firefighter and she is a veterinarian, and both of them are still going to work. So we made the decision to not join families. But it’s been hard on all of us: kids and parents alike!
“I said to a friend the other day that I feel like I have ‘newborn’ syndrome again, where you are just drowning in the many needs of your children and there is barely time to brush your teeth! “I hold on the fact that at some point this will end. We need to just ride the wave and find the beauty in the little things.”
Bailey - “Our kids, surprisingly, seem to get it. They talk about the virus as if this is something that happens and we have to stay home for awhile. Of course, they miss their friends and school, but this doesn’t register as being abnormal to them.
“They love waving to people from our window, and get great joy from connecting with whoever is walking by. After all, who wouldn’t like a sweet wave or innocent smile from a young kid (or three), especially in today’s environment of isolation?”
