The Weber family moved to Los Angeles from Switzerland in 2018. A scheduled summer trip back to Europe is now uncertain as they, like millions of others around the world, are social distancing and living under quarantine to avoid the spread of #coronavirus .
Before the coronavirus outbreak, the Webers lived an active lifestyle, participating in sports and taking long hikes throughout LA. Now, their physical activity is limited to the home or backyard.
Rahel - “The cosiness of being at home, anyway, is soothing,” Rahel said. “At the same time, the pandemic limits our social interaction and physical closeness in a painful way. Being mom, teacher, assistant, coach, supervisor, motivator for each and every activity 24/7 brings about a density which is overwhelming every day. Gratefulness, surreality and desperation keep alternating.”
In addition to the portraits, the children drew and wrote their feelings about how they’re dealing with the disruption and uncertainty that comes with Covid-19.
